Found in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, this delicious banana
fritter snack is sometimes called Pisang Goreng in Indonesia and
Malaysia. This warm, wholesome snack is often served early in the day,
before temperatures begin to soar.
Ingredients:
1 cup plain flour
1 Tbsp. rice flour
1 tsp. baking powder
Pinch of salt
½ cup water
Vegetable oil for frying
4 bananas
4 Tbsp. golden syrup or cinnamon sugar
Steps:
In a bowl, sift together the dry ingredients, then add water and beat
until smooth. Heat oil in a wok. Dip banana in batter and deep fry until
brown. Serve drizzled with syrup or sprinkled with cinnamon sugar along
with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Makes 4 servings.
